Crew shortage cancels west Wales trains, with buses filling four routes

A shortage of train crew is cutting services across west Wales, with Transport for Wales listing four separate cancellation windows on its service status page on Sunday morning. Trains between Swansea and Llandrindod are cancelled in both directions from 08:53 to 13:56, with the 08:53 Swansea to Shrewsbury starting at Llandrindod at 11:28 and buses from Gower covering the gap.

The afternoon brings more of the same. Swansea to Carmarthen is cancelled both ways from 14:58 to 20:27, Swansea to Milford Haven from 15:03 until the end of the day, and Carmarthen to Fishguard Harbour from 20:00 to 23:30, where the 21:46 from Fishguard Harbour to Cardiff Central instead starts at Swansea at 23:32. Replacement buses from Daves and Davies run on each affected route at no extra cost, though TfW warns road transport takes longer than rail.

Passengers arriving more than 15 minutes late can claim compensation through Delay Repay, and anyone who decides not to travel can get a fee-free refund on an unused ticket from wherever it was bought.
